It is produced by a single editor. There is no separate research desk or in-house fact-checking department, and we would rather say so plainly than imply an operation that does not exist.
Reporting an error
Use the contact page and include the page address and what looks wrong. If you can point to the source you believe is correct, that makes it much faster to resolve.
What happens next
- We check the figure or formula against the source it was derived from.
- If it is wrong, we correct the page and record the date of the correction.
- If the same input feeds other calculators or pages, we re-check those too.
- If the figure is right but reads unclearly, we rewrite it.
- If we disagree, we will tell you why rather than quietly leaving it.
Routine review
Pages carrying rates, tax figures, or market data are reviewed quarterly. Definitions and explanatory content are reviewed annually. Corrections are made promptly when an error is reported.
